Ranam Malayalam Movie Review



Young Super Star Prithvi Raj Sukumaran had come up with his new film today and it was Ranam written and directed by a newcomer named Nirmal Sahadev. This crime thriller has been bankrolled by Anand Payyanur and Lawson Biju under the banners named Yes Cinemas and Lawson Entertainments. Isha Talwar plays the female lead in this flick and along with Prithvi and Isha, Rahman too plays an important character in this movie. The teaser and theme of this movie had created great level of anticipation around this flick in social media.
The film revolves around the central character named Aadhi played by Prithvi Raj who is a car mechanic. The film is all about crime and it develops around the Tamil street gangs in Detroit, America. When a gangster named Damodar Ratnam comes in to the life of the central character played by Prithvi, the course of his life changes. The war between the drug lords in detroit formsthe crux of the plot.
Nirmal Sahadev had given great hopes to Mollywood through his first film itself. Because he had given us a technically brilliant and thrilling crime drama, which has international standard. The control and skill he possesses as a writer too made this movie a brilliant thriller. There is everything in this movie, which people expect from a crime thriller and he had given us something more as well. The screenplay was so tight and the plot situations were convincing. Dialogues were sharp and the action sequences were terrific too. It has been made as a stylish film and at the same time the depth and intensity of emotions portrayed in the film too was awesome.
Prithvi Raj once again given a terrific performance and his mass appeal has been the highlight of this flick. He looked calm and composed. His dialogue delivery has been stunning and the action sequences were superb. He did great in emotional scenes as well. Rahman is the one who stole the show in this flick. He has been absolutely fantastic as Damodar. His body language has been the key to his fabulous performance. Isha Talwar did her part well so as Aswin Kumar. Nandu, Mathew Arun, Celin Joseph, Shyama Prasad, Shivjith, Sajini, Jiju John, Justin David etc too played their part to perfection.
Jigme Tensing is the one who cranked the camera for this flick and his visuals were stunning to say the least. The visuals combined with the terrific background scoring from Jakes Bejoy created the correct atmosphere to tell the plot in a stylish manner. Editing from Sreejith Sarang too was just superb. His cuts were fine and sharp and given the pace which this flick wanted.
In Total, Ranam is a stunning crime thriller which will give goosebumps to you if you are a fan of Prithvi Raj and also a lover of stylish crime thrillers. We can call this movie as one of the best and technically brilliant crime thrillers ever made in Mollywood.
