Basheerinte Premalekhanam Malayalam Movie Review

Basheerinte Premalekhanam Malayalam Movie Review

Basheerinte Prema Lekhanam is one among the Malayalam movies that graced the screens here today. It is directed by Aneesh Anwar who had given us critically acclaimed movies like Zakkariyayude Garbhinikal and Kumbasaram before. This movie has been written together by 3 writers and they are Shinod, Shamseer and Bibin who are debutants. P M Harris and V S Muhammed Althaf had bankrolled this movie under the banner named Fort Entertainment and Fahad Fazil’s younger brother Farhan Fazil is playing the male lead in it, He had made his debut some years back through the movie named Njan Steve Lopez which was directed by Rajeev Ravi. Sana Althaf is playing the female lead in this movie. She made her debut through the movie named Vikramadithyan directed by Lal Jose.

This movie had set in the period of 1980’s in a remote village in Kerala. Chakkarakadvu is the name of the village and the film revolves around the love story of two characters named Basheer and Suhra. The villagers thinks that the absence of a bridge across the river named Eendapuzha is the cause of the under development of their village. It had made them fight against each other as it become a social issue. Later, the love story between Basheer and Suhra becomes another social issue there.

We have to say that Aneesh Anwar once again shown his caliber as a director and this time he had given us a superb love story. He had already given us movies which had great depth in it and those movies received critical appreciation as well. This time he had come up with something different, a romantic period film, which is a fun filled entertainer as well. The screenplay from the trio of Shinod, Shamseer and Bibin has been excellent as it has all the elements in it enthrall the audience. They had provided a platform for the director to show his caliber and he did exactly that. Aneesh Anwar had presented the plot before the audience with conviction and handled the artists very well too.

The performance from Farhan Fazil was very good and we can say that he had shown growth as an actor from what we saw in Njan Steve Lopez. He became more composed as an actor and played the character named Basheer with ease. Sana Althaf also done a great job and she was very much convincing as Suhra. Veteran artist like Sheela and Madhu too did a fantastic job in the movie. Other artists like Renji Panicker, Dileesh Pothan, K. P. A. C. Lalitha, Joy Mathew, Aju Varghese, Asha Aravind, Harish Kanaran, Sunil Sukhada, Manikandan, Sooraj Harris, Shanavas, Sreejith Ravi, Nobi, Baiju Ezhupunna, Renjini Jose etc too did their part well and they provided many fun filled moments in the movie with their performance.

DOP of this flick was Sanjay Haris and he did a fine job in providing an atmosphere that suits the 1980’s in Kerala. Music was tuned by Vishnu Mohan Sithara and the songs were too good. Renjith Touchriver had edited the flick and the film moved smoothly forward thanks to the editing skill of Renjith.

In Total, Basheerinte Premalekhanam is a well-made romantic movie which will entertain you till the last moment. It tells the story in a way that you will be satisfied after watching it and never be disappointed for sure.
