One of the major releases that had graced the screens here in Kerala today was Kamuki written and directed by Binu S, who shot to fame through movies like Ithihasa and Style. In his new film, Asif Ali’s brother Askar Ali and Aparna Balamurali plays the lead roles and this flick was produced by Unmesh Unnithan under the banner named First Clap Movies. The trailer of this flick had got great appreciation and that had raised the anticipation level around this flick as well.The plot of this film revolves around a campus and the characters named Hari and Achamma Varghese who are the students studying there. Hari is a blind young man and Achamma Varghese is a firebrand young lady. The film tells how the romantic track between them works out and what happens next.
Binu S once again made a movie with full on entertainment. He showed us earlier that he is a filmmaker who knows the pulse of the audience and that is what he done with Kamuki as well. The screenplay is filled with hilarious dialogues and humorous situations. There is a lot of comedy and romance in it along with the campus fun which young audience are expecting from a romantic comedy set in the background of a campus.The performance from Askar Ali as Hari is been one of the plus points of this movie. He had done a very good job and he is really showing growth as an actor. Aparna Balamurali as usual became the energy source in the movie. She was sizzling in the flick as Achamma Varghese and she is the backbone of this flick in every sense. Apart from these two, artists like Ronnie, Baiju, Kottayam Pradeep and a bunch of newcomers did their part very well.
DOP of this flick was Rowin Bhaskar and he had provided the movie with some colourful visuals. His visuals really set the energetic atmosphere in which the story is presented before the audience. Gopi Sundar’s songs and background music has been cool and it really stood up to the mark. Sudhi Maddison edited the flick and his cuts provided smooth sailing for the flick till the very end.In Total, Kamuki is superb romantic comedy and a campus fun film, which will make you laugh a lot. It will entertain you till the very last moment inside the cinema hall and will never let you down if you want to get relaxed by watching a fun film.
