Dhoni- Rahane partnership and bowlers fetch victory for India
India move one step closer to sealing the series as team India managed to pull off a 93- run victory against West Indies in the third match of the ODI series. After winning the toss, West Indies decided to bowl first. The decision did not cost West Indies much as India were unsuccessful in registering a huge score, giving the opposition a slight hope that they might be able to level the series.
India lost the first wicket on 11 after Shikhar Dhawan was caught by Roston Chase off Cummins. Virat Kohli who is perhaps under the most pressure failed to deliver as he soon followed Dhawan after scoring just 11 runs. Yuvraj Singh along with Ajinkya Rahane steadied the innings but the partnership came to an end as Devendra Bishoo trapped Yuvraj Singh leg before wicket. YUvraj made 39 runs from 55 balls. Rahane played a cautious innings and scored 72 runs before losing his wicket to Cummins.
It was MS Dhoni’s turn to boost the Indian innings and he rose up to the occasion. He notched up 78 runs. Kedar Jadhav teamed up with Dhoni and made a valuable 40 runs to move India’s score past 250. India wrapped up the innings for 251 at the loss of 4 wickets.
West Indies fancied their chances of winning the match, considering that the target was well within their limit. But, the West Indies batsmen disappointed as no batsmen could not make a major impact except Jason Mohammed. He chalked up 40 runs from 61 runs. Rovman Powell was the second highest run score. He managed to score 30 runs before Pandya took his catch. 7 bastmen could not even score 10 runs, resulting in the batting collapse. As a result, India conveniently picked up a victory of 93 runs in just 38 overs. R. Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav claimed three wickets each.
