Jio and Google to team up for 4G VoLTE smartphones
According to various reports, Reliance Jio is partnering up with Google to instigate a budget friendly 4G VoLTE smartphone. If the sources are to be believed, this new smartphones will operate only on on the Reliance Jio network. The phones will also include Jio apps such as Jio TV, JioCinema, Jio Music and JioMags. Both companies have not made any official confirmation regarding the partnership.If the rumours are indeed true, both companies can reap benefits from the alliance. Google has been trying to consolidate its dominance in India and Jio could be the perfect platform for this. Jio also can also expand its domain with the help of Google.
The latest news is in accordance with the previous reports that Mukesh Ambani is working on launching the low cost smartphone that would cost around Rs 1,500. Ever since Reliance Jio Infocomm has introduced its 4G network; there has been a steep increase in the popularity of the devices supporting VoLTE (voice over long-term evolution).As per a recent research, out of every 10 smartphones that were shipped in India, 7 of them were enabled with LTE. Out of every 10 LTE enabled smartphones that were launched in the third quarter of 2016, 8 of them were designed to accommodate VoLTE facility.
It is also said that Jio and Google will also come together to equip Jio’s smart TV services with advanced software. However, we will have to wait till the official confirmation from either of the companies to get more information about this possible alliance.
