Adhil Ibrahim, Pearle Maaney, Siddique etc playing the lead characters in this movie, which is a musical romantic drama. The trailer of the movie which had been released some weeks back had got some attention from the audience here and it gave us the feel that something realistic and fresh will be there in the movie to be enjoyed. The plot of this movie revolves around the character H Mehaboob who was the beloved musician of Kochi. The plot of the movie travel through the period in which Kochi was under the British rule, when Jews and slavers were worked under them. We can say that Saheer Ali had did a great job as he had really told an intense plot in the most realistic way possible. The screenplay was great and it included almost every details of a specific period in the history of Kochi. The screenplay had a soul in it and as a director he narrated the plot with utmost honesty. The way he presented the story and the way he mixed up elements like love, music, agony and the fight for survival was just beautiful and it was like watching a part of the history of Kochi unfolds before our eyes. The selection of events portrayed in the movie also have to be appreciated and the director was in control over the proceedings right from the start.
The performance of lead artists like Siddique, Adhil Ibrahim etc were terrific. Siddique once again showed us why he is been considered as one of the most versatile actor we have in Mollywood. He was so convincing and natural that it was just like there was no Siddique, but only the character on screen. Adhil Ibrahim had done a great job as well and delivered a matured performance. Pearle Maaney had given her career best performance as well for this movie. Other artists like P Sreekumar, Indrans, Lal, Shibaji Guruvayoor, Kanaran Haarish, Sunil Sugatha, Rajesh Sharma etc also did a very good job in the movie. The camera was cranked by Praveen Chakrapani and it was instrumental in setting the atmosphere which was required to tell the story. Same is the case with music tuned by Rafeeq Yusuf and Madhu Paul. Both of them was scored the music which was blended really well with the soul of the movie. Editor was Sai Suresh and he did his best to make it a free flowing as well even though the film is a slow paced one due to its way of presentation.
In Total, Kappiri Thuruthu is a movie which you will love if you are a lover of quality movies which gives you something fresh and an experience which you never had before. It is a class entertainer which will never disappoint you as a viewer.
