New Zealand wins the Ranchi match to nullify India’s lead

India- New Zealand series has taken an interesting turn with both teams now having two wins each. New Zealand prevailed over India to level the ODI series at 2-2. The final match on Saturday will decide the winner of the series. After winning the toss, New Zealand decided to bat first. Martin Guptill’s half-century helped New Zealand take the score past 250. New Zealand winded up the innings at 260.India got off to a good start and reached the score of 126 in 23 overs. India lost only two wickets in the process. Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli joined forces to add 79 runs on the scoreboard. But their partnership was broken when Kohli got out at 45 runs. Things went downhill after that.

Dhoni’s hometown crowd were expecting another match winning innings from him. James Neesham robbed the crowd of an opportunity to witness a classic innings from Dhoni. Neesham dismissed Dhoni for 11 runs. Dhoni’s dismissal almost ensured New Zealand a victory but the tail- end batsmen surprised the bowlers.Axar Patel and Amit Mishra tried to revive the Indian innings with their crucial partnership.  Axar Patel scored 38 runs from 40 balls. India’s resistance did not end with the dismissals of Patel and Mishra. Dhawan Kulkarni and Umesh Udav partnered up to put together 34 runs for the last wicket. But their valiant efforts could not save India from defeat. Indian innings was concluded at 241 runs, giving a 19-run victory for New Zealand. The final match of the match will take place in Visakhapatnam.
