Baahubali Actor Prabhas turned 37 today. And as a birthday gift, director SS Rajamouli unveiled the first look poster of Baahubali: The Conclusion at the MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival. The actor received a standing ovation from the audience after the unveiling of the first look poster featuring both the avatars of Prabhas in the film, a day before.

While considering the career of the Baahubali star, the stardom Prabhas has managed to earn in a span of 14 years of his acting career is extraordinary. For many of his peers, this may deem it as an impossible feat. All thanks to the Baahubali franchise, which catapulted him to global fame almost overnight. Baahubali: The Beginning got the actor overnight fame worldwide and opened new doors for the actor in terms of opportunities, popularity and finding new fans outside the south of India.

Here are some lesser-known facts about the Baahubali star.

  1. The real name of Prabhas is Venkata Satyanarayana Prabhas Raju Uppalapati. He was born to U Suryanarayana Raju and Siva Kumari couple, in Chennai. He has two siblings and is the nephew of actor Uppalapati Krishnam Raju, who could be described as Tollywood’s very own Shatrughan Sinha.
  2.  It is a lesser known fact that Prabhas has already made his debut in Bollywood. He was in actor Ajay Devgn’s 2014 film Action Jackson, which was directed by Prabhu Deva. He appeared in a cameo role in the film.
  3.  Prabhas is engaged to an engineering student, handpicked by his parents. His marriage was supposed to happen last year in December, but he postponed the wedding due to his Baahubali shooting commitments.
  4.  Prabhas’ favourite Telugu film is his uncle Krishnam Raju’s  Bhakta Kannappa, which was released in 1976. He is an admirer of films by Rajkumar Hirani. He has watched Munna Bhai MBBS and 3 Idiots for almost 20 times reportedly.

The Baahubali actor is said to be a fan of actor Robert De Niro in Hollywood.

  1.  Prabhas’s favourite sports is volleyball and he loves playing it. He was trained by Mr. World 2010, Laxman Reddy for his role in Baahubali.
  2. Prabhas do only one film at a time, and right now it is only Baahubali. As simply put by Prabhas,“One Baahubali is equal to 100 films.”
