Pulimurugan Movie Review:
Pulimurugan, the most anticipated Malayalam movie of this year had hit the screens all over today. There was great hype around the movie as it is a Mohanlal movie, who has been the biggest ever star here in Mollywood. Even his name makes any movie a much anticipated one and when it is a big budget action movie, then it is sure that the hype will touch the sky. This movie Puli Murugan has been directed by Vysakh and scripted by Udaya Krishna. Mulakupadam Films owned by Tomichan Mulakupadam had bankrolled this project, which is said to be the biggest budget Malayalam movie in Mohanlal’s career till now.
The plot of this movie focusses on the life of Murugan played by Mohanlal. He lives in a village near forest with his wife Myna. He have a little daughter as well with and his brother too lives along with him. He is a lorry driver who works on forest to earn a living and the flick depicts who Murugan becomes Puli Murugan, the wild hunter.
Vysakh had given us successes in the past like Pokkiri Raja, Mallu Singh, Seniors etc and his films like Visudhan had got appreciation as well. But still there is a feel that he can do better than all those movie and he has the potential in him to do something very big. Now, Vysakh had done it and Puli Murugan had elevated him to another league. We have to say that Vysakh had done a fabulous job as a film maker in this movie. His vision and skill as a director had helped this movie to become something very special for the audience. Credit goes to Udaya Krishna as well for a fabulous screenplay based on a very different and never seen before subject. He had shown the courage to script a very different mass movie as his independent venture and got the success as well. Vysakh had done complete justice to the screenplay and made it look stunning with the visual language he provided to it.
Mohanlal once again proved that he is the one and only Complete Actor in Indian Cinema. He has been just amazing. The transformation of him as Puli Murugan was breath taking and he just need the blink of an eye to create terrific mass effect on screen. The way did the dangerous and jaw dropping stunt scenes was just astonishing and it was a privilege to watch him on screen. Actor Lal had complimented him really well with his powerful performance. Other artists like Kamalini Mukharjee, Suraj Venjarammoodu, Jagapathi Babu, Makarand Deshpande, Kishore, Nobi, Vinu Mohan, Siddique, Sudheer Karamana, Santhosh Keezhattoor etc also done their part to perfection.
DOP from Shaji had really become the backbone of this film which says a lot through its visuals. The frames were just mesmerizing to say the least. The action sequences choreographed by the master fighter Peter Hein was awesome and one of the best we ever saw in Indian Cinema. Gopi Sundar once again tunes some terrific music and John Kutty’s editing was sharp as well.
Pulimurugan is an experience which can’t miss from cinema halls. It is a visual spectacle. Not only mass, but it has certain class in it as well. This film will rewrite box office history for sure and will remain in your heart for quite a long time.
