How to make healthy eating style and regular exercise a habit for your children

Whether you have a toddler or a teen, it is necessary that you should be a role model for them to make lead a healthy life. Here are some tips to get you started.

BE A GOOD ROLE MODEL
You can’t eat junk foods all the time and advise your kids to eat healthy. Children learn from your actions and not from your words. So, if you want your child to eat right kind of food, set an example. Keep junk and unhealthy foods out of your dining table. Eat right and be physically active, in front of the kids as they will look upon you as their role model. When they see you follow a healthy lifestyle, they, too, will follow the same. Your healthy habits will make your kids understand early on about how important good health is for you and your family.
BE POSITIVE

Maintain a positive attitude towards your kids. Encourage the kids to engage themselves in exercise and other physical activities and help them to follow a healthy lifestyle. Forgive their mistakes. Realize that they can’t be perfect all the times. Set realistic goals for them and appreciate them sincerely when they achieve them. Everyone like being praised and the kids too. Celebrate their achievements, help them to have a positive outlook towards everything in life. Help them to develop a positive self-image about life.

MAKE EXERCISE AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES A FAMILY AFFAIR
When you make the exercise and other activities as a family routine, children too will be much interested to participate in it. Rather than instructing your kid to something, do it together and your kids won’t get bored. Take walks, ride bikes, go for swimming; do gardening or just play hide-and-seek outside. Involve everyone in your family in these activities. And everyone will benefit from the exercise and the time together. And this will also help your strengthen your relationships.
