Oppam Movie Review
Oppam, the Mohanlal- Priyadarshan movie had graced the screens all over Kerala today. Master Director Priyadarshan had scripted and directed this movie and Complete Actor Mohanlal had played the lead in it. He played a blind man character in this movie which is a crime thriller in its genre. Govind Vijayan had written the story of this much anticipated movie and it has been produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Ashirvad Cinemas. Maxlab had distributed the movie over 100+ screens here in Kerala.
The movie revolves around the character named Jayaraman played by Mohanlal who is a blind man. He is a lift operator and always want to present himself as a normal man before others. He hate other being considering him as a blind man and he uses his other senses to live like a normal person. While things going smoothly, a really unfortunate incident happens in his life which turned his world upside down. The movie showcases Jayaraman’s effort to come out from it and to survive.
We can say that Priyadarshan had made one of the best thrillers we ever saw in Malayalam Cinema history. It was his first attempt at this genre and he nailed it by giving a fabulous output. As a writer and director, he had given us a stunning performance. His screenplay was tight and very much convincing as well. The way he presented each and every turning points in the plot was unbelievable and it was such a pleasure to see this man in his full form. The dialogues were too good and the way he used each actors was terrific as well. The film has all the elements to make you entertained and Priyadarshan had made a grand comeback indeed.
As Jayaraman, Mohanlal had given a stunning performance. In his each movements he lived as Jayaraman and we will feel that he is actually blind. That was the perfection he brought to the character through his performance and he will make us fall in love with this character right from the very first moment he appears on screens. Other artists like Vimala Raman, Samuthirakani, Anusree, Renji Panicker, Nedumudi Venu, , Mamukkoya, Chemban Vinod Jose, , Aju Varghese, Kalabhavan Shajon, Siddique, Kalashala Babu, , Innocent etc also done a great job in it.
DOP by Ekambaram was just superb and his frames were really beautiful throughout the movie. The color tone was superb as well. Songs were composed by 4 Music and we can say that those were the best songs we heard from a Malayalam movie this year. Background scoring by Ron Yohan was terrific as well. Editing by Ayyappan Nair was also crisp and neat. Sound Design of this movie has been done by the Premam team and it was too good as well.
On the Whole, Oppam is a great cinematic experience and never miss this movie. It is one of the best thrillers released till now in Mollywood and really one of the best from Mohanlal- Priyadarshan combination.
